MIDDLETOWN, Conn.--The doubles tandem of
Allie Ryan (Springfield, Mass./Springfield Central ) and
Julia Signell (Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth Academy) earned Smith College its lone point as the Pioneers ended their season with an 8-1 defeat to Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon. Smith finishes the season with a record of 6-15.
Ryan and Signell, playing at No. 3 doubles, defeated Ana Alvarado and Kaitlyn Clark 8-6. At No. 1,
Jaimi Inskeep (Warrenville, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville So.) and
Clair Oblamski (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) were beaten by Sarah Miller and Grace Smith 8-4, while at No. 2,
Gianna Teague (Gahanna, Ohio/Columbus Academy) and
Jordan Dubin (Southampton, N.Y./Southampton) fell to Madison Hartley and Lauren Jacobs 8-1.
The Cardinals swept all six singles matches - Oblamski came closest to a win, falling at No. 5 to Nicki Softness 6-3, 3-6, 6-10, while Miller beat Teague 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Dubin fell to Genevieve Aniello 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2, and
Bayla Weick (Woodbridge, Conn./Amity) was defeated by Kiley Robbins 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3.
At No. 4, Inskeep feel to Jacobs 6-3, 6-1, and at No. 6,
Robyn Cyr (Limington, Maine/Bonny Eagle) was edged by Hannah Berkman 6-3, 6-0.
