Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--Babson College scored the first five goals of the game and never looked back, recording a 19-7 win over Smith College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on Saturday afternoon.  It was the sixth straight win for Babson, improving their record to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in NEWMAC play.  Smith suffered its first loss at home, falling to 6-5 and 1-2 in the NEWMAC.

Colleen Mulligan gave Babson the lead 51 seconds into the game, on a pass from Jameson Spang, and then returned the favor for Spang to score her first of the game 21 seconds later.  Spang added a second, followed by goals from Taylor Kralovenec and Misha Beatty before Smith got on the board courtesy of a free position goal from Mckenzie Hessel (Portland, Ore./Wilson).

After Spang netted another for Babson, Meaghan Fileti (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes) scored her first of the game with a free position tally that cut the lead to 6-2.  Babson scored three of the final four goals of the half to take a 9-3 lead into halftime.  Hessel grabbed her second of the game, while Spang scored all three of the Beavers.

Babson opened the second half with eight straight goals, including two by Kralovenec, and one each from Mulligan, Beatty, Emma Locke, and Trisha Babson to open up a 17-3 advantage.  Smith pulled three goals back courtesy of Fileti, Petru Bester (Deep River, Conn./Valley Regional), and another free position goal by Hessel, before Babson and Beatty scored again.  Hessel added her fourth of the game for the final margin.

Alina Pechacek (Andover, Mass./Phillips Academy) kept Smith in the game, making 10 saves, while her counterpart, Babson's Julie Baharestani made 12.  Babson outshot Smith 35-28, and won 16 draw controls to Smith's 12.

Smith will continue their NEWMAC run-in with a visit to Mount Holyoke College on April 10 at 6 p.m.  Babson will host Wheaton at 7 p.m. on the same date.
