NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The season continues for the Smith College tennis team (0-1, 0-1 NEWMAC) when they travel to Babson College (4-0, 1-0 NEWMAC). It's the first road match of the year for the Pioneers.
Last Meeting: Babson earned a 9-0 win over Smith on September 24, 2011.
Eunice Zhao (Las Vegas, Nev./Liberty) was the closest Pioneer to a victory, with a 3-6, 5-7 loss at No. 5 singles.
Last Smith Win: September 16, 2006 - Smith earned their first win of the season with a 5-4 win over Babson. The teams would meet agaiin the the NEWMAC quarterfinals, and Smith would win the same score.
Smith Overview: Smith began the year with a 9-0 loss to perennial power Wellesley College on September 15. A young team, Smith was led by No. 1 singles player
Bayla Weick (Woodbridge, Conn./Amity), who fell in a tiebreaker 6-3, 2-6, 8-10.
Babson Overview: The Beavers have only dropped three points the entire fall, including a 9-0 win over Clark University in their NEWMAC opener last weekend. Babson has also beaten, Roger Williams, and Wesleyan.
