Game Preview: Soccer vs. Wellesley

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College soccer team plays at Wellesley College for the third consecutive year when the Pioneers (5-7-2, 3-3-1 NEWMAC) take on the Blue (8-7-2, 5-1-1 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon.


Last Meeting: Wellesley earned a 1-0 win over Smith in overtime on September 29, 2012.  It was the first of three straight overtime games for Smith.

The Series: Smith leads the all-time series, 25-17-3.  The Pioneers are 1-3-1 in the last five meetings.

Fast Facts: Wellesley is unbeaten in their last five games (4-0-1)...the Blue have allowed just two goals in that span, which includes two overtime contests...Wellesley is 2-0-1 in overtime this season...senior LJ Foster leads the team with nine goals...Smith earned a big 3-1 win over WPI on Tuesday...Jordan Houston (Logan, Utah/Logan) netted her first career hat-trick in the victory...the result leaves Smith with 10 points, the most since the 2007 team finished with 12...Houston now leads the NEWMAC with 10 goals...that's the 12th highest single season total in Smith history.

Next Up:  Smith heads to Mount Holyoke for a 6 p.m. game on Tuesday, October 29.  Wellesley hosts Coast Guard at 3:30 on the same day.
