Game Preview: Basketball vs. Babson

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College basketball team hits the road for the first time this season on Saturday.  The Pioneers (1-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) travel to five time defending conference champion Babson College (0-3, 0-1 NEWMAC) for a 2 p.m. tip-off.


Last Meeting: Babson beat Smtih 73-52 in the final home game of the year on February 10, 2013.

The Series: Babson has won 31 of the 40 all-time meetings between these two schools, including 20 of the last 21.

Fast Facts: Babson suffered their first conference loss in five years with a 71-65 loss to Coast Guard on Wednesday night...Babson had not lost a conference game since February 18, 2009...The Beavers were picked as co-champions in the NEWMAC Preseason Poll and return league Rookie of the Year Linnett Graber...Babson has as many losses this year as as they did all of last year...Smith picked up their first win of the season with an 89-74 win over Clark on Wednesday...Rosa Drummond (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) made her season debut with 14 points and nine boards...Marissa Munoz-Ruiz (Fairfield, Calif./Justin-Siena) tied a career high with 14 points...Smith is 4-17 all-time at Babson...the two teams met in the NEWMAC tournament championship game in 2011 and 2012.

Next Up:  Smith returns home to host Wheaton College on November 26 at 6 p.m.  Babson travels to Springfield on the same date for a 7 p.m. start.
