HANOVER, N.H.--The Smith College tennis team fell to Colby-Sawyer College 9-0 at the Boss Tennis Center at Dartmouth College on Wednesday.
Smith is now 1-9 this year, while Colby-Sawyer is 17-2.
The Chargers swept all three doubles matches by 8-0 scores. Liz Lincoln and Claire Toffey beat
Kyle Gouchoe-Hanas (Durham, N.C./Carolina Friends) and
Tessy Lopez (Pomona, Calif./Ganesha) at No. 1, and Donna Gordon and Ashlyn Ramsay beat Victoria von Saucken and Carly Melilo at No. 2. Charlotte Horton and Oxana Tkachenko completed the doubles play over
Seema Samawi (Damascus, Syria/King's Academy) and
Jinan Martiuk (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview) at No. 3.
Colby-Sawyer also took all six singles matches. Lincoln beat Gouchoe-Hanas 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1, and Ramsay beat Samawi at No. 2 by a 6-0, 6-1 score. Horton took the first set over von Saucker at No. 3, before injury ended the match.
Toffey swept Melilo 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, and Gordon beat Lopez 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5. Tkachenko toppled Martiuk 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6.
Smith will return home on March 30 with matches against Simmons College and Endicott College.
