Box Score WESTFIELD, Mass.--
Jessica Lillquist (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme),
Christina Vara (Hudson, Mass./Hudson), and
Jenny Estes (Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) each scored two goals as the Smith College lacrosse team fell to Westfield State University by a score of 16-7 on Tuesday night in non-conference lacrosse play.
Sophomore Amanda Bouchard scored a game-high four goals, and senior Maura Stack and freshman Megan Griffin each tallied three goals and an assist to pace Westfield State.
Westfield (3-2) scored eight unanswered goals to take a 9-1 lead with 18:20 remaining in the first half. Bouchard and Griffin both scored twice during the scoring run.
The Owls led at halftime, 11-4, and scored five straight goals early in the second half for a 16-5 advantage over the Pioneers (1-6) with 22:21 remaining in the game.
Westfield senior Sadie Graham had two goals and an assist and sophomore Bridget Everett scored two goals.
Freshman goalie Mimi Khampaeng was clutch between the pipes with 13 saves and a team-high four ground balls. Lillquist recorded a game-high six ground balls. Savannah Lawson (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) made six saves for Smith.
Westfield only outshot Smith, 26-25, but dominated the draw controls, 17-8.
Westfield State will be in action on March 30, opening up MASCAC competition with a visit to Salem State University at 1 p.m. Smith will open NEWMAC play with a trip to MIT on March 30 at 1 p.m.
