Game Preview: Lacrosse vs. Mount Holyoke

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College lacrosse team (3-10, 0-4 NEWMACwill close out the regular season with three consecutive home games, with a visit from longtime rival Mount Holyoke College (9-3, 2-2 NEWMAC) first on tap.


Last Meeting:  Smith got seven goals from Mckenzie Hessell in a 13-9 win over the Lyons on April 10, 2012.  With the game tied at seven, Smith scored four straight goals late in the second half to take the lead for good.

Smith Overview:  The Pioneers fell to Babson College 20-13 on Saturday.  Despite the loss, Smith remains in the race for a NEWMAC playoff berth, needing victories in its final two games to make the tournament for the second straight year.

Mount Holyoke Overview: The Lyons fell in a close 10-9 decision to Wheaton College over the weekend.  Mount Holyoke pulled within one with 1:24 to play, but could not find the goal to send the game to overtime.

Smith Player to Watch: Savannah Lawson (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) made 21 saves against Babson, keeping Smith in the contest.

Mount Holyoke Player to Watch:  Molly Macdonald has found the net 47 times this season for the Lyons.
