NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The last time the Smith College field hockey team started the season with five straight wins, a few members of the current team were not even born yet. The Pioneers (4-0) can reach that mark with a win over Elms College (1-4) on Tuesday afternoon.
Last Meeting: Allie Stein (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) tied her own school record with 13 points on five goals and three assists as Smith rolled to an 11-2 win over Elms on September 11, 2012.
The Series: Smith leads 18-2, having won 13 of the last 14 meetings since 2001.
Fast Facts: Elms got their first win of the season with a 3-2 win over Rivier in a 1-v-1 shootout...the game finished 2-2 after regulation, but the Blazers prevailed 2-1 in the shootout...The Blazers are the only team in the New England Collegiate Conference that has won a game...The last time Smith won their first five games of the year was 1993, when the team started 10-0 and finished 15-3, advancing to the NCAA tournament...After a 14-0 win over Daniel Webster, Smith will attempt to hit double-figures for consecutive games...Smith scored 11 each against Bay Path and Elms last season...
