NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--Two teams that were victorious in their conference openers meet on Saturday afternoon when the Smith College volleyball team (7-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) hosts Babson College (8-5, 1-0 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon.


Last Meeting: The Beavers took a 3-1 (25-11, 18-25, 25-14, 25-23) win over Smith on September 11, 2012.  

The Series: Smith leads, 23-8, but Babson has won the last five matchups between the schools.  

Fast Facts: Babson has won four straight, including a win over Mount Holyoke in their conference opener...the Beavers had also beaten Salve Regina, Newbury, and Johnson & Wales...all three of those wins were by 3-0 scores...Smith beat Clark 3-0 in the Pioneers first conference game of the year...It was Smith's seventh win of the year, as many as the Pioneers had all of last season...this is the second of five straight league games for Smith...Smith has won all five sets by set in their eight matches this year, including 6-2 leads in the first and third sets.

Next Up: Smith travels to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on September 24 at 7 p.m., while Babson will host Springfield on the same day at 7 p.m.
