Game Preview: Soccer vs. Babson

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--NEWMAC play resumes for the Smith College soccer team (3-3-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) when the Pioneers travel to Babson College (6-1-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon.


Last Meeting: Babson broke open a 1-1 game with three goals in the final 25 minutes for a 4-1 win on October 13, 2012.

The Series: Smith leads 19-17-2, but Babson has won the last six meetings between the two schools.

Fast Facts: The Beavers were unbeaten for the first seven games of the year, before a 2-1 overtime loss to Endicott on Tuesday snapped that skid...Babson is led by the offensive duo of Jenny Moore (five goals, two assists), and Jessica DiPhillipo (three goals, five assists)...Babson also boasts the second stingiest defense in the NEWMAC, having allowed five goals in eight games, including  five shutouts...Smith is coming off a tough overtime loss to Westfield State...the game was headed to a 2-2 draw before the Owls netted the game winner with 36 seconds remaining...Smith has now played in overtime in three straight games, including two that have gone to double-overtime...Innis Hitt (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) netted her second goal of the season for the Pioneers...classmate Jackie Foody (Weston, Mass./Weston) scored her first career goal...Alanna Lynch (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) had her first career double-digit save game.

Next Up: Smith will travel to No. 17 Brandeis on October 1 at 7 p.m.  Babson will head to WPI for a NEWMAC tilt on October 1 at 7 p.m.
