NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--A new year begins today, and with it, the resumption of the season for the Smith College basketball team. The Pioneers (2-5) will travel to Middlebury College (3-4) for a non-conference game that begins at 4 p.m.
Last Meeting: Smith rolled to an 80-47 win over the Panthers on November 20, 2012.
Rosa Drummond (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) and
Paulina Solis (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill) each had 15 points for Smith, who shot 50% from three point land.
The Series: The Panthers lead 2-1, thanks to wins in 2006 and 2007.
Fast Facts: Middlebury started the post-holiday schedule with a 56-44 win over Oberlin College...The Panthers are 1-2 at home this season...Scarlett Kirk marked her season debut with 14 points, seven rebounds, and three assists...Middlebury shoots just 23.7% (27-114) from three point range...Smith is playing for the first time since December 10...The Pioneers dropped games to Wellesley and Westfield State before the holiday break...
