Game Preview: Lacrosse vs. Babson

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Smith College lacrosse team (2-11, 0-4) entertains Babson (4-8, 3-1) for a 1:00 p.m. New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest on Saturday.
 
Last Meeting: Babson won, 20-13, on April 13, 2013.
 
The Series: The Beavers hold a slim 18-13 advantage and have won the last 13. Smith last defeated Babson, 9-8, in the 2001 NEWMAC quarterfinals.
 
Fast Facts: Babson defeated MIT, Mount Holyoke and Springfield while Wheaton handed the Beavers their first conference loss on Tuesday…Rachel Secrist has scored 41 goals on 84 shots which is fifth and fourth amongst the league leaders, respectively…Secrist is also tied for fourth in points (51) while Misha Betty has doled out 22 helpers, good for third in the NEWMAC… Julie Baharestani is fourth in the conference with 94 saves…Jessica Lillquist (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) is fifth in shots (79)…Merric Kallfelz (North Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) has amassed a league-leading 121 saves…the Pioneers scored a season-best 17 goals on Thursday…Rachel Silveria (Dunstable, Mass./Groton-Dunstable) (20) and Anne Zawacki (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra) (19) are third and fourth on the team in points despite seeing action eight or fewer games…
 
Next Up: Both Smith and Babson are back in action on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. as the Pioneers host Mount Holyoke and Babson heads to Wellesley.
