Game Preview: Lacrosse vs. Springfield

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Smith College lacrosse team (1-10, 0-3) continues New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference action with a 7:00 p.m. game at Springfield (5-6, 2-1) on Tuesday night.
 
Last Meeting: Springfield defeated the Pioneers 19-9 at home on April 9, 2013.
 
The Series: Smith has won six of the 37 games between the two programs. The Pioneers last earned a victory over the Pride on April 6, 1999 by a score of 13-11 on the road.
 
Fast Facts: Springfield has defeated Emerson and MIT and was upended, 16-12, on Saturday by Babson…as a team, the Pride are holding opponents to 7.36 goals per game to rank first in the conference and 26th in the nation…Anne Versprille sports a NEWMAC-best 7.93 GAA, which is also 34th on the in Division III leaderboard…Kelly Gallo leads the Pride offense with 28 goals and 34 points to go along with 34 draw controls…Merric Kallfelz (North Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) leads the conference with exactly 100 saves and is ranked 32nd in the country…Smith tallied 13 goals on Saturday for the second-most in a game this season…Jessica Lillquist (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) is averaging four goals per game since the team returned from Spring Break…The Pioneers have combined with their opponents to average just over 31 goals per game over the last three contests.
 
Next Up: Smith hosts Simmons in the final non-conference tilt of the season at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Springfield hosts Mount Holyoke on Saturday. That conference matchup is slated for a 1:00 p.m. opening draw.
