Volleyball Hits the Road to Tangle With Babson

Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team fell to the Babson College Beavers 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, and 25-23) in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) volleyball action Saturday afternoon at Staake Gymnasium.

Sophomore Allison Hardy (Nashville, Tenn./University School of Nashville) had six kills and 13 digs while first-year Dayra Diaz Marquez (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/New Mission) finished with a team-high 12 assists to go along with 10 digs and three kills. Sophomore Julie Voorhes (Ramona, Calif./Ramona) led the Pioneers with 14 digs, and first-year Xela Miller (Granada Hills, Calif./James Monroe) chipped in four kills.

As a team, Smith had three total blocks, including a solo block by first-year Jenna Rubin (Norfolk, Conn./Suffield Academy).

The Beavers' Jenny Karnes finished with nine kills to pace the Babson attack.

The Pioneers are back in action at 7 p.m. on Sept. 23 when they host the United States Coast Guard Academy.
