NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Smith College tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to the visiting Mount Holyoke College Lyons Tuesday.

Pioneer sophomore Margaret Anne Smith (Spring Lake, N.J./High Technology) had a hand in both of her team's victories. She won her #6 singles match against Mount Holyoke's Amy Chen, 6-3, 6-3. Smith also teamed up with first-year Samantha Peikes () to defeat Mount Holyoke's #3 doubles team of Alexa Colas and Michelle Cai, 8-2.

With the win, Smith improves to 3-1 at #6 singles this season.

The Pioneers next travel to Williams College on Sept. 26 to take part in the three-day, USTA/ITA New England Regional Women's Tennis Tournament. Play each day will commence at 9 a.m.
