Pioneers, Sharks play to scoreless tie

Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Smith College Pioneers and the Simmons College Sharks played to a scoreless double-overtime tie Wednesday at the Smith College Soccer Field.
 
First-year goalkeeper Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) posted her first collegiate shutout, making several key stops to send the contest to overtime. Hall recorded six saves on the day while Briana Hayes made seven stops for the Sharks.
 
Fellow first-year Vicki Kraft (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Our Lady of the Lourdes)'s shot just 21 seconds into the first overtime clanged off the top crossbar, while the ensuing rebound failed to find the back of the net.
 
Kraft led Smith with six shots, two of which were on goal. Greer Gilbert took three shots for Simmons.
 
Smith's record now stands at 0-0-1, while Simmons moves to 1-0-2 on the season.

The Pioneers will travel to North Adams, Mass. Saturday to take on the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Trailblazers. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
