Box Score NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's soccer team used four different goal scorers en route to a 5-0 win over host Smith College in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, Brandeis (9-1) ties a school record with its ninth consecutive win. The Judges received four votes in the most recent NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Top-25 rankings that were released prior to Tuesday's contest. With the loss, Smith now stands at 3-4-1 overall.
The Judges jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Holly Szafran (Homewood, Ala.) delivered a corner kick to Sapir Edalati (Great Neck, N.Y.) who continued to find the scoring touch as she knocked the feed into the back of the net to give Brandeis a 1-0 lead at the 25 minute mark.
Brandeis doubled their lead four minutes later on Cindy Moscovitch (Coral Springs, Fla.)'s 29th minute strike.
The Judges added second half goals from Edalati in the 65th minute, Lea McDaniel (Phoenix, Ariz.) in the 78th minute and Melissa Darling (Weymouth, Mass.) in the 86th to seal the win.
Brandeis outshot Smith, 27-7 and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. First-year
Camryn Biasin (Lee, Mass./Berkshire) made her first career start in goal for Smith, and was tested early and often. Biasin made a game-high 10 saves. Juniors
Jordan Houston (Logan, Utah/Logan),
Lily Eriksen (Seattle, Wash./Bush School) and
Allie Rooney (Ludlow, Mass./Cathedral) each notched a shot on goal to the lead the Smith offensive effort.
Brandeis will host Case on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. while Smith will continue NEWMAC play with a trip to the Coast Guard Academy on Saturday at 1 p.m.
