Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision at MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The MCLA Volleyball team got 18 kills and 15 digs from Allison Clark as she led the Trailblazers past the visiting Smith College Pioneers 3-1 this evening from the Amsler Campus Center.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The MCLA Volleyball team got 18 kills and 15 digs from Allison Clark as she led the Trailblazers past the visiting Smith College Pioneers 3-1 this evening from the Amsler Campus Center.  With the win, the Trailblazers improve their record to 17-7 while Smith falls to 4-15 overall.

MCLA breezed through the first two sets 25-18 and 25-15 respectively before the Pioneers sliced into the lead with a 25-18 third set win.  The Trailblazers regrouped in set four and put the match away with a 25-15 win.

Clark was outstanding all night long as she collected her 18 kills on 37 total attacks.  She added three blocks on the night.  Samantha Anderson had a solid night notching 9 kills. Margaret Allen chipped in with 8 kills, while Courtney Parent had a great night setting up the offense with a season high 36 assists and notcing 6 aces. Brittney Pihl was stout defensively with 28 digs.

For Smith, they were paced by Macarena Rojas (Maipu, Santiago, Chile/Liceo No. 1 Javiera Carrera) and Elizabeth Peay (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial) with 8 kills apiece.  Mei-Li Smith (Cypress, Calif./Cypress) had 21 assists in the setback.  Julie Voorhes (Ramona, Calif./Ramona) led the defense with 29 digs. The Pioneers defense was able to force 23 attack errors by the home team.

Smith hosts Plymouth State and Framingham State this Saturday.
