Game Preview: Volleyball vs. Plymouth State, Framingham State

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--Smith College (4-15) welcomes Mount Holyoke (6-10), Framingham State (17-6) and Plymouth State (15-6) to campus this Saturday in non-conference volleyball action.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--Smith College (4-15) welcomes Mount Holyoke (6-10), Framingham State (17-6) and Plymouth State (15-6) to campus this Saturday in non-conference volleyball action. The Pioneers play Plymouth State at 11 a.m. and Framingham State at 1:00 p.m. in Ainsworth Gymnasium, while Mount Holyoke will take on FSU at 11:00 a.m. and PSU at 1:00 p.m. in Scott Gymnasium.

Last Meeting (Plymouth State): The Pioneers earned a 3-1 (25-22, 26-24, 24-26, 25-10) win on October 19, 2013.

Last Meeting (Framingham State): Smith swept the Rams 3-0 (27-25, 25-20, 25-22) in the ECAC Quarterfinals on November 13, 2013.

The Series: Smith is undefeated against the Rams at 2-0.  Plymouth State leads the series with the Pioneers 5-4.

Fast Facts: FSU has been swept in their last two contests against MCLA and Clark after a four-game win streak...the Rams are the defending MASCAC regular season and tournament champions and again are the favorite to win the conference championship in 2015...11 of Framingham State's 17 wins have come by 3-0 scores...The Rams are led by the first team All-MASCAC duo of juniors Alycia Rackliffe and Julia Wan…Rackliffe leads the conference in kills per set (3.97) and hitting percentage (.348) and is second in kills (298)…Plymouth State is coming off a 3-0 loss to Keene State Wednesday after their 3-0 sweeps against Suffolk and Salem State last Saturday…The Panthers were picked to finish fifth in the Little East Conference…PSU is led by Dani Tabor who is hitting .341 on the season and is averaging 3.40 kills per set…Kirsten Perrotta runs the offense with 553 assists in 2015…Smith has lost three in a row after their two wins against Eastern Connecticut and John Jay…This will be the Pioneers first home game since September 29…Elizabeth Peay (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial) lead Smith with 102 kills and Mei-Li Smith (Cypress, Calif./Cypress)'s 220 assists…

Next Up:  Smith returns to conference play by hosting Wellesley on Tuesday, October 20 at 7 p.m.  Framingham State will be in action on Monday, hosting Eastern Nazarene at 7 p.m., while Plymouth State has a week off and will travel to UMass Dartmouth for a tri-match with MCLA and host Corsairs on October 24.
