Mei-Li Smith Named to All-Tournament Team as Pioneers Finish Play at Hall of Fame Tournament

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team concluded play at the 2015 Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament with a pair of losses Saturday.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team concluded play at the 2015 Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament with a pair of losses Saturday. 

The Pioneers fell to Hamilton, 3-1, before dropping to Vassar, 3-0.

Hamilton
In the first match of the day against Hamilton, Mei-Li Smith (Cypress, Calif./Cypress) led the Smith attack with a team-high 11 kills and added 13 assist. First year outside hitter Macarena Rojas (Maipu, Santiago, Chile/Liceo No. 1 Javiera Carrera) recorded a double-double of her own with 17 digs and 12 assists.
 Junior libero Julie Voorhes (Ramona, Calif./Ramona) tallied a team-high 19 digs and three service aces, while Jenna Rubin (Norfolk, Conn./Suffield Academy) notched five kills, three total blocks and two service aces.

For the Continentals, Erin Donahue and Jessica Weston finished with 14 and 13 kills, respectively, while Jamie Granskie tallied a double-double of 20 digs and 10 assists.

Vassar

Mei-Li Smith (Cypress, Calif./Cypress) hit .240 with a team-high eight kills and added 15 digs and eight assists, while Rojas added 11 digs, six assists and five kills. Voorhes finished with 12 digs for the Pioneers. Smith tested the Brewers in all three games as Vassar just edged out the Pioneers.

Gabby Miller led the offensive effort for Vassar with 13 kills and Annie MacMillan added with 31 assists. 

Mei-Li Smith (Cypress, Calif./Cypress) was named to the 2015 All-Tournament team. 


Smith (4-21) is back in action on Tuesday, October 28, when they host Mount Holyoke at 7 p.m.
