NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Smith College tennis team was defeated by the Connecticut College Camels Saturday, 7-2.
First-year
Samantha Peikes (West Hartford, Conn./Watkinson School) won her second-straight match, and her third in her last four tries, with a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) at No.3 singles. Senior
Seema Samawi (New York City, N.Y./King's Academy) also won her second-straight match, defeating Ameeka Kalia, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 at No.5 singles.
"Seema played her best match in intercollegiate singles tonight," said head coach
Chris Davis. "(Samawi) was patient and persistent while Sam has improved a great deal and had courage in competition today."
The Pioneers (4-8) will play the Simmons College Sharks at home Sunday at 1 p.m.
