NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- The Vassar College tennis team captured the 2015 Seven Sisters Championship Sunday at the Smith Tennis Courts.

After posting shutout victories against Mount Holyoke College and Smith College on Saturday, the #22-ranked Brewers defeated Bryn Mawr and Wellesley Sunday to secure the crown.

Vassar, who won the program's 12th Seven Sisters Championship dating back to 1983, defeated Wellesley, last year's champion, in the de facto championship game, 4-1. Mount Holyoke took third with a 2-2 record, while Smith (1-3) and Bryn Mawr (0-4) rounded out the team standings.

Margaret Anne Smith (Spring Lake, N.J./High Technology) and first-year
Samantha Peikes (West Hartford, Conn./Watkinson School) were both named to the All-Seven Sisters Tournament Team. Joining the duo was sophomore Amy Chen and first-year Ishita Tibrewal from Mount Holyoke, junior Melina Koukoutchos of Bryn Mawr, senior Sojung Lee and first-year Emily Olson of Wellesley, and first-year Kate Christensen, sophomore Hanna McGuire and first-year Morgan Fitzgerald of Vassar.

The Pioneers, who won their first Seven Sisters Tournament match since 2012 Saturday and have won eight Seven Sisters Tennis championships since the first in 1983, dropped a pair of tough matches Sunday against Mount Holyoke (4-1) and the #30-ranked Wellesley (5-0).

Smith will return to the court on Saturday, when they host Roger Williams University.
