NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College Tennis Team fell by a 9-0 final to Babson on Sunday in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action.
With the victory, Babson improved to 6-0 overall, 3-0 in NEWMAC play while Smith fell to 1-2, 0-2 in Conference. 
At first doubles, first-year 
Noa Dubin (Southampton, N.Y./Southampton) and junior 
Margaret Anne Smith (Spring Lake, N.J./High Technology) battled Yagmur Akgul and Eleni Gianelos but dropped an 8-2 decision.  Babson was victorious at second and third doubles by identical 8-1 margins over the pairings of 
Samantha Peikes (West Hartford, Conn./Watkinson School) and 
Janan Fugel (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Saddle River Day) and 
Morgan Barney (North Attleboro, Mass./North Attleboro) and 
Annina Van Riper (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central).
In singles play, Babson completed the sweep with straight-set victories to improve to 3-0 in NEWMAC play for the third time in the last five years.
Smith still holds a 15-13 edge in the head-to-head matchup with Babson dating back to 1989. 
The Pioneers return to the court on Saturday when they travel to Wheaton for a 1 p.m. start.
