Weekend Preview: Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College volleyball team co-hosts the 2016 Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament with Amherst College on Friday and Saturday.  The Pioneers (3-18) will play Hamilton (6-9) on Friday evening, followed by matchups with Emmanuel (10-17) and Bridgewater State (8-14) on Saturday.

LAST MEETING
Hamilton - 
At the 2015 Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament, Hamilton claimed a 3-1 (25-15, 25-14, 19-25, 25-16) victory over the Pioneers. 
Emmanuel: In the first meeting between these two programs, Smith swept Emmanuel 3-0 (30-21,30-20,30-24) on September 22nd, 2006.
Bridgewater State: These two teams met last year in the 2015 Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament where BSU won 3-1 (27-25, 25-17, 25-17, 20-25, 25-19).


The Series:
Hamilton: The Continentals hold a 4-3 lead.  
Emmanuel: Smith leads 1-0.
Bridgewater State: Smith holds a 13-2-1 series record over the Bears. 

Fast Facts: BSU is 2-5 away from home and 2-6 on neutral floors...the Bears are led by Hannah Maymon's 240 kills and Charleyne Panner's 661 assists…Bridgewater State will also matchup with SUNY Canton, Amherst and Hamilton…Hamilton is looking to snap a five-game losing streak in their second tournament of the season…Erin Donahue leads Hamilton with 136 kills, while Christine Zizzi has a team-high 253 digs and Kyndal Burdin totals 419 assists...the Continentals will also play Bridgewater State and Emmanuel at the Hall of Fame tournament…Emmanuel aims to get back in the win column after a five game slide...the Saints are 3-4 away and 3-9 at neutral sites…Mary Shelow powers the offense with a team high 256 kills…Emmanuel will also face Trinity (Conn.) and Hamilton this weekend...Smith hopes to break their five-match losing streak at this weekend's tournament...Kimani Freeman (Newark, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) leads the offense with a team-high 134 kills and Maca Rojas (Santiago, Chile/Liceo No. 1 Javiera Carrera)' 424 assists...
