The Series
This is the fifth meeting between these two schools in a series that began in 2012. The series is tied 2-2.

Last Meeting
The Pioneers got three goals from both Caroline Myran (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends School) and Julia Hamilton (Williamstown, Mass./Deerfield Academy), but it wasn't enough as Nichols defeated Smith by a 20-9 final.

The Bison
Nichols (2-2) snapped a two-game losing streak after their 11-7 win over Framingham State on Thursday. In that game, the Bison scored eight goals in the first half and received three goals apiece from Lindsay O'Connell and Brooke Marion. The Bison are coming off a 2015 season that saw them finish seventh in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) under first-year head coach Kathryn Beall. Junior Katherine Cotton enters her third year with the Bison as the programs all-time leader in wins (12) while Marion is the team's returning leader in goals (29), assists (9), and points (38). Cotton is ranked fourth in the conference in save percentage (49.5%). Nichols averages 11.75 goals per game and 23.3 shots per game.

The Pioneers
Smith (2-3) looks to win their home opener for the second consecutive season. The Pioneers went 1-1 over spring break with a 17-5 win over Centenary followed by a 13-10 loss to Wilkes. In the loss, senior Ray Silveria (Dunstable, Mass./Groton-Dunstable) scored the 100th goal of her college career, but Smith's comeback fell short. The Pioneers trailed 13-7 late in the second half and scored the game's final three goals before time ran out. Sophomore Julia Hamilton (Williamstown, Mass./Deerfield Academy) finished with five goals, followed by Silveria's four. Silveria ranks fourth in the conference in goals with 16. The Pioneers average 11.60 goals per game and 22.0 shots per game.

Next Up
The Pioneers play the second match of a five game homestand on Saturday, March 26 against Johnson State at 1:00 p.m.
