The Lions (5-3)
Emerson aims to begin NEWMAC play 2-0 after their 14-6 win over Mount Holyoke on Wednesday. In that game, junior midfielder Meredith Weber netted a game-best four goals while Guerin Morissette recorded three goals and two assists. Freshman attack Emily Quinn is third in the NEWMAC in goals (23) and fourth in points (29), while senior midfielder Kate Lemire ranks fourth in assists (10). Emerson averages 13.38 goals and 27.1 shots per game. The Lions were picked to finish seventh in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The Pioneers (4-4)
Smith looks to pick up their first conference win of the season today against Emerson. the pioneers are coming off a 16-6 loss to Wheaton on Wednesday. In that game, Hamilton scored a team-best three goals and sophomore Caroline Myran (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends School) scooped up a team-high four ground balls and finished with four draw control wins. With two goals and two helpers Wednesday night, Ray Silveria (Dunstable, Mass./Groton-Dunstable) has recorded a point in 15 consecutive games. Hamilton and goalkeeper Sarah Price (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) were named NEWMAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Hamilton and Silveria are the highest scoring duo in the conference as the pair have totaled 49 goals this season and are ranked No. 1 and 2 in points. Smith averages 11.25 goals and 23.0 shots per game. The Pioneers will honor their three seniors prior to the game: Erinn Summers (Salt Lake City, Utah/Highland) and co-captains Ray Silveria (Dunstable, Mass./Groton-Dunstable) and Bethany Claps (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Academy).
