NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College tennis team's match against Nichols College went down to the wire but the Pioneers were unable to pull off the victory in the deciding match at No. 3 singles Saturday afternoon against the Bison.
Nichols started off strong, winning all three doubles matches to lead 3-0 going into singles play.Â
Smith won at the No. 1, 2, 4 and 6 slots.Â
Noa Dubin (Southampton, N.Y./Southampton) cruised to 6-1, 6-0 victory over at the top position, while
Samantha Peikes (West Hartford, Conn./Watkinson School) took care of her opponent at No. 2, 6-1, 6-3.
At No. 4,
Janan Fugel (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Saddle River Day) and Tiff Romano had a competitive match, but Fugel took care of business, 7-5, 6-4.
Smith's final win came at No. 6 as
Sarah Cassidy-Seyoum (Woodbury, Conn.) won 6-4, 6-0.
