Julia Hamilton (Williamstown, Mass./Deerfield Academy) netted a hat trick but the Pioneers suffered a 19-9 defeat to Westfield State on April 1, 2015.

The Series
Westfield leads the all-time series 5-2. Smith's last win came on March 27, 2012 by a score of 17-14. 

The Owls
At 6-3, Westfield State has won five-straight games after opening Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play with a 10-5 victory over Worcester State. In that game, senior goaltender Mimi Khampaeng delivered an impressive performance with 15 saves, while senior midfielder Blair Smith tallied three first half goals. Khampaeng leads the conference in save percentage (58.7%). Smith and Stephanie Godek each have 14 goals on the season so far. Jeff Pechulis enters his third season as head coach of WSU after setting a program record for wins in a season in 2015. Westfield State averages 10.44 goals and 25.3 shots per game.

The Pioneers
Smith aims to get back in the win column following their 19-11 loss to Emerson on Saturday. In that game, sophomore Julia Hamilton (Williamstown, Mass./Deerfield Academy) tied her career-high with six goals. Hamilton is ranked first in the NEWMAC with 31 goals, while Ray Silveria (Dunstable, Mass./Groton-Dunstable) is fourth with 26 on the season. The two are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the conference in points (Hamilton - 41 and Silveria - 37). Silveria continues her streak as she has now recorded a point in 16 consecutive games. The Pioneers average 11.22 goals and 22.8 shots per game.
