NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Smith College fall student-athletes had the opportunity to attend a presentation by Jennier Beindorf '91 on "The Power of Mindset in Sports, Career and Life" Monday evening. Beindorf returned to campus to spend a few days with the tennis team and offered to talk on Mindset, Accountability and Mental toughness with all preseason athletes on campus.
With her diverse background as a business consultant, fitness coach working with athletes and every day people on strength and conditioning, weight loss and improving functional movement, a certified mindset and accountability coach via the Mindset Performance Institute, and finally as a nationally-ranked tennis player who still competes in Category I and II National USTA tournaments, she is able to tailor her talks to her audience and deliver an informative, interactive and action-driven presentation to help people take things to the next level and achieve greater success.
Her talk covered three key areas: Mindset Management, Goal Setting, and Time Management - using video clips, real stories and strategies that anyone can apply to their lives – as athletes, students, coaches, business professionals, parents, gym members, etc.
Beindorf discussed the role of mindset in all aspects of our lives (with an emphasis on athletic competition), the power of our unconscious mind, and how we can cultivate a positive mindset that helps us achieve our goals and visions. Using examples from Olympic athletes, collegiate athletes, sports psychologists, successful entrepreneurs and everyday people – she shed light on the following:
- The importance of Awareness to cultivate mindset first before diving into goal setting and other tactical strategies
- Mental Toughness and preparation before, during and post competition
- Time Management and Goal Setting Strategies
- Defining and Celebrating "Success"
