Box Score 2 NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - A team effort guided the Smith College volleyball team to a pair of 3-0 victories as they defeated Bryn Mawr and Albertus Magnus Saturday afternoon at the Smith College Invitational. The Pioneers earn their first wins of the season to improve to 2-4.
Series History
Smith is now 15-5 all-time against Bryn Mawr. Saturday's match with Albertus Magnus marked the first-ever between the Pioneers and the Falcons.

In the first match of the day, the Pioneers put on their best display of offense this season as the home team hit .290 in the match 25-17, 25-15, 25-12.

The Pioneers used nearly their entire roster in the second match against AMC. Smith came out firing in the first set to earn a 25-15 win. They then carried that momentum through the final two frames (25-10, 25-11) as they cruised to a sweep on the second day of competition. First-year
Iris Afantchao (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) hammered down her first-career kill to earn the game-winning point of the third set.
Xela Miller (Grenada Hills, Calif./James Monroe) hit .333 with 10 kills to lead the offense while Rojas finished with 18 assists.

Ella Prince (New York, N.Y./Rudolf Steiner) was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Pioneers open New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Tuesday when they travel to Worcester, Mass. for a match with Clark University.
