Soccer Rolls Past Neumann, 5-1

ASTON, Pa. - It was a total team effort from the Smith College soccer team as the Pioneers received goals from five different players in their 5-1 victory over Neumann University Sunday afternoon.

Smith's 4-0-1 start is the best start in program history and the first time the Pioneers have won four straight since 2006.

The Knights came out aggressively to start the game, as freshman Summer Sides streaked down the right flank and ripped a ball into the upper 90 for a 1-0 lead in just the third minute. In response, Smith rattled off five unanswered goals to claim their fourth straight win.

Senior Emily Smith (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) opened the scoring with her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 13th minute off a corner assisted by first-year Reilly Sullivan (Keene, N.H./Keene)

The Pioneers then took the lead as senior captain Innis Hitt (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) floated the ball over the keepers head at the 28:19 mark.

Just 6:28 into the second half, junior captain Jordan Isaacs (Weston, Conn./Weston) found the back of the net off a cross from senior Jackie Foody (Weston, Mass./Weston)

Smith's offense continued to stay hot as Foody and sophomore Pamela Larkin (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos) each scored goals 1:09 apart late in the game.

For the game, Smith outshot the Knights 14-8. Smith goalkeepers Camryn Biasin (Lee, Mass./Berkshire) (two saves) and Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) each played a half while Neumann goalie Anna Attardi stopped eight shots in net for the Knights.

The Pioneers will take nearly a week off before their New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener at 2 p.m. against Clark University in Northampton.
