NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Junior forward
Jordan Isaacs (Weston, Conn./Weston) finished with a hat trick and added an assist as the Pioneers remain undefeated on the season and won their New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener over Clark University, 4-0 Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers completed all of their scoring in a span of just five minutes.
Smith (5-0-1) is off to their best start in program history and Isaacs finished with a career-high seven points in a game and three goals in a game.Â
The Pioneers lit the scoreboard in the 35th minute as Isaacs took a pass from
Kenza Mdarhri-Alaoui (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) and shrugged off three defenders for the 1-0 advantage.Â
Just 1:40 later,
Meredith Roberts (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) deliverd a beautiful header off the foot of Isaacs to double Smith's lead.Â
Isaacs was not done as she dribbled around her defender and finished with the unassisted tally with 38:03 on the clock.Â
The forward from Weston, Conn. put on a show to complete her hat trick as she controlled a pass from
Seri Park (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill), quickly turned around and sent a screamer over the keeper's head.Â
Smith outshot the Cougars (4-1-1) 14-6 but only had two corners compared to Clark's seven.Â
Julianna Christy made two saves for the visitors while
Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) and
Camryn Biasin (Lee, Mass./Berkshire) maintained the shutout for the Pioneers.Â
Smith looks to continue their win streak when they head to UMass Dartmouth Wednesday evening for a non-conference contest with the Corsairs at 7:00 p.m.
