Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team came up short in their 2016 season opener as the Pioneers fell to Brandeis University 3-0 on the Judges' home floor of Auerbach Arena tonight as part of the Brandeis Invitational. The Judges (1-0) won 25-17, 25-16, 25-15.
Elizabeth Peay (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial) led the offensive attack for Smith (0-1) with seven kills, while
Maca Rojas (Santiago, Chile/Liceo No. 1 Javiera Carrera) had a match-high 14 assists. Senior libero
Julie Voorhes (Ramona, Calif./Ramona) led all players with 17 digs.
Brandeis was led by sophomore Zara Platt and Emma Bartlett whoe each tallied seven kills. Sophomores Marlee Nork and Leah Pearlman split setting duties and each finished with 11 assists. Defensively, sophomore Yvette Cho led the way with nine digs, while Nork and eight.
Smith will take on Southern Maine and Endicott Saturday on the second day of the Brandeis Invitational.
