THE SERIES
Smith and Coast Guard will meet for the 25th time on Tuesday evening in a series that dates back to 1995. The Bears hold a 15-9 advantage all-time and have won eight consecutive games against the Pioneers.

LAST MEETING
In a tightly contested meeting between NEWMAC opponents, Coast Guard pushed past Smith 3-0 with game scores of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-20 on September 22, 2015. Maca Rojas (Santiago, Chile/Liceo No. 1 Javiera Carrera) and Elizabeth Peay (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial) each had seven kills, while Julie Voorhes (Ramona, Calif./Ramona) recorded a match-high 12 digs.

LAST SMITH WIN
The Pioneers won a 3-2 decision on October 14, 2008.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
Coast Guard went 2-0 on Saturday earning their first NEWMAC win of the season topping Clark, 26-24, 25-22, 14-25, 19-25, 15-6 and then beating Endicott 3-1, (25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17). The Bears return five key players from last year's team, but are still fairly young and must replace some key players lost to graduation. Middle blocker Madison Scott will be counted on to bolster the middle this season. Scott played in all 104 sets in 2015 and had 224 kills while leading the team with 89 blocks and 35 service aces. Freshman Angela Dunton is off to a stellar campaign and is leading the Bears hitting .235 with 108 kills. Dunton ranks fourth in the NEWMAC in kills per set (3.38). Coast Guard was picked to finish sixth in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Smith aims to snap a two-game losing streak and earn their first NEWMAC win of the season tonight against Coast Guard. The Pioneers dropped a 3-0 decision to Babson Saturday. In that match, first-year Kimani Freeman (Newark, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) led the Pioneers with five kills as sophomore Maca Rojas (Santiago, Chile/Liceo No. 1 Javiera Carrera) dished out 11 assists to go along with five digs. Senior libero Julie Voorhes is fourth in the NEWMAC in digs per set (4.73) while Freeman and Rojas rank No. 1 and 2 in the conference in service aces per set. The Pioneers were voted to finish 10th in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
