Box Score CASTINE, Maine - The Smith College soccer team set a new program record for goals in a game with their 19-0 rout of Wheelock College Saturday afternoon on day two of the Old Towne Canoe Classic hosted by Maine Maritime. The Pioneers improve to 1-0-1 on the season.
The 19 goals is tied for fifth all-time in NCAA history for goals in a game. The Pioneers also set new school records with their 72 shots, 48 shots on goal, 15 corners, shots in a half and goals in a half. 12 different players scored for Smith in the win.
Kenza Mdarhri-Alaoui (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) led the Pioneers with a hat trick and an assist, while teammate
Pamela Larkin (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos) also recorded a hat trick in a span of just 4:05.
Emily Smith (Winchester, Mass./Winchester),
Jordan Isaacs (Weston, Conn./Weston) and
Krissy Williams (Stockbridge, Mass./Monument Mountain) each chipped in with two goals and
Reilly Sullivan (Keene, N.H./Keene) tallied a team-best three assists, while also adding a score.
Three goalkeepers saw time in net for Smith.
Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield),
Camryn Biasin (Lee, Mass./Berkshire) and
Julia Donovan (Waltham, Mass./Ridgewood) combined for the shutout, without making a save. Wheelock netminder Dominique DelBene stopped 29 shots in the defeat.Â
Smith returns to Northampton for their home-opener Thursday at 4 p.m. against Simmons.Â
