FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

• The Smith College volleyball team looks to snap a three-game losing streak and earn their first conference win of the season tonight against Springfield.

 

• First-year Caleigh Johnson (Georgetown, Tex./St. Dominic Savio Catholic) leads the Pioneers with 121 kills followed by Amy Hagen (Owings, Md./Northern)'s 113 kills. Sophomore Jody huang has stepped into the setter position to average 2.62 assists per set.

 

• Smith was selected to finish 10th in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, while Springfield was voted to finish second.

 

• Sophomores Katie vonKampen and Bridget Walsh of the Pride have combined to total 74 blocks this season.

 

• Jen Donnelly ranks fourth in the NEWMAC in kills per set (3.65) and total kills (197), while Anagabrielle Sanchez leads the conference in digs per set (5.48) and is second in total digs (296).
