FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
- The Smith College field hockey team is making their third consecutive appearance in the NEWMAC Field Hockey Tournament tonight against Wellesley.
- This will be the sixth meeting between these two programs in the conference tournament...The Pioneers last win against Wellesley in the postseason came on October 30, 1993.
- The Pioneers score 1.39 goals per game, while the Blue average 1.90 goals per contest.
- Senior goalkeeper Cameo Tietje (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) ranks third in the NEWMAC in saves (132) and save percentage (.805).
- Junior Arielle Mitropoulos was named the NEWMAC Field Hockey Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week Monday...Mitropoulos capped a five-goal week with an OT game-winner against Wheaton that helped the Blue clinch a spot in the NEWMAC postseason.
