Tennis Falls to Connecticut College in Non-Conference Action

April 02, 2017

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Smith College tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Connecticut College Saturday afternoon at the Indoor Track and Tennis Facility. The Pioneers are now 4-7, while the Camels improve to 6-2 with the win.

SMITH HIGHLIGHTS
  • The lone victory of the day came at No. 3 as Margaret Anne Smith (Spring Lake, N.J./High Technology) played with her usual combination of patience and tenacity. She won a first close set 6-4 and cruised to take the second 6-2.
  • At the No. 2 slot, Joanna Kim (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) went down early but battled back to force a second set tie-break. Kim played smart tennis from the baseline and took advantage of her opportunities to come forward and finish the point. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to bring home the win, but it was a match that definitely highlighted her capabilities, proving that this sophomore has a big future a head of her.
