SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Smith College tennis team earned a 3-2 victory over Bryn Mawr College Sunday afternoon at the Seven Sisters Championships hosted by Mount Holyoke College.
After a tough 5-0 loss to Mount Holyoke Sunday morning, the Pioneers were able to regroup to take on Bryn Mawr for their first outdoor match of the season.
Smith was able to claim all three lines of singles to earn the 3-1 victory. In the number one position, Noa Dubin (Southampton, N.Y./Southampton) made quick work of her opponent only dropping one game to win 6-1, 6-0.
Margaret Anne Smith (Spring Lake, N.J./High Technology) was the next player off the court with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the number three position. Not usually known for being one of the first ones off the court, Smith looked for chances to come to net and finish the point quickly.
The final point of the day came from Joanna Kim (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep)'s 6-2, 6-4 win in the number two position. After cruising to a quick victory in the first set, Kim had to adjust her play due to injury at the start of her second set. Kim used her underhand serve effectively to close out her match and get Smith the win over Bryn Mawr.
