• The Smith College volleyball team travels to MIT for a tri-match and NEWMAC opener against the host Engineers and Simmons Sharks Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

 

• The Pioneers are 2-3 in conference openers in the last five years.

 

• Junior setter Maca Rojas (Santiago, Chile/Liceo No. 1 Javiera Carrera) recorded her 1,000th career assist in Tuesday's game against Bay Path. She becomes the 11th player in Smith volleyball history to reach that milestone...First year Caleigh Johnson (Georgetown, Tex./St. Dominic Savio Catholic) leads Smith with 66 kills while hitting .340.

 

• The Sharks enter Saturday's tri-match after a 3-2 loss to Gordon on Tuesday.

 

• MIT is coming off a convincing 3-1 victory over Springfield College Tuesday evening...Freshman Andie Maloney was tabbed as the NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week Monday...The Engineers were picked to finish 1st in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
