FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

• The Smith College soccer team begins NEWMAC action Saturday at Wellesley.

 

• Senior goalkeeper Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) made a career-high 19 saves the Smith's 1-0 loss to RPI Wednesday. Hall ranks second in the NEWMAC in saves (41) and save percentage (.953) and was named the NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week Monday.

 

• The Pioneers are 4-0-1 in their last five conference opening games.

 

• Smith was picked to finish 8th in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll while the Blue were selected to finish 6th.

 

• The Blue look to snap a three-game losing streak Saturday against the Pioneers. Carley Phillips leads the Wellesey offense with three goals.
