Senior goalkeeper Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) made four saves and classmate Kenza Mdarhri-Aloui scored the game-winner, as Smith College soccer picked up a 1-0 shutout victory in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener on Saturday at the Wellesley Fields Complex.

Wellesley goalkeeper Olivia Reckley made two saves in the contest.

GOAL: SMI 1, WEL 0; 47:37: Kenza Mdarhri-Alaoui (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) netted the game-winner on a free-kick after a hand ball.

GAME NOTES

• Wellesley out shot Smith 15-7 in all, while the Pioneers held the edge over the Blue in corner kicks, 6-3. 
• Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) recorded her fourth shutout of the season and 12th of her career.
• The Pioneers now lead the all-time series 24-15-5.
• Smith is now 5-0-1 in their last six conference openers.
