FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

• The Smith College field hockey team travels to Wellesley College Saturday afternoon...the Pioneers look for consecutive wins against Wellesley for the first time since the 1993 season.

 

• Smith aims to start 2-0 in NEWMAC action for the third consecutive season.

 

• Junior forward Caroline Labriola (Westbrook, Conn./Westbrook) leads the Pioneers with two goals, while senior goalkeeper Cameo Tietje (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) ranks second in the conference in saves (47).

 

• Smith was selected to finish 3rd in the Preseason Coaches' Poll while the Blue were chosen 4th.

 

• Wellesley returns Emmy Hamilton who was a NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team and NFHCA All-Region Second Second Team selection a season ago...Haley Chroboack and Arielle Mitropoulos lead the offense with four goals each.
