Krissy Williams (Stockbridge, Mass./Monument Mountain) scored in the 51st minute and goalkeeper
Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) made a save on a PK late in the second half to power the Smith College soccer team to a 1-0 victory over UMass Dartmouth Thursday evening.
After a scoreless opening period, the Pioneers came out firing in the second half as
Pamela Larkin (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos) broke loose for a 1v1 with the goalkeeper. Larkin's initial point blank shot was turned away as was her second opportunity in a span of 10 seconds.
At the 50:56 mark, Williams booted the ball over the outreached hands of the UMD keeper for a 1-0 lead.
A foul from the Smith defense in the 78th minute gave the Corsairs their best chance of the game to get on the scoreboard. Baily Dowling stepped up and blasted a shot to the left side of the cage only to be saved by a diving
Shelby Hall (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield).
Hall came up big again in the 81st minute, thwarting a shot from Alexis Pacheco.
Hall (2-1) recorded six saves in her 10th career shutout while Madison Boucher made eight stops in the loss.

GOAL: SMI 1, UMD 0; 50:56: Williams sent a shot from 25 yards out that soared over the arms of the UMass Dartmouth goalkeeper.
