Westwood, MA --- Smith College senior
Samantha Alakai (Pukalani, Hawaii/Punahou School) has been tabbed as the NEWMAC Women's Basketball Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week, it was announced today.
Senior forward
Samantha Alakai (Pukalani, Hawaii/Punahou School) came off the bench to average 12.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 75 percent (6-for-8) from behind-the-arc. In Smith's 71-48 win over Clark, Alakai totaled 10 points, four boards, and two assists. Against Wellesley, the Pukalani, Hawaii native poured in 15 points, six rebounds, and two steals to help the Pioneers remain undefeated at home in 2017-18. With her six three-pointers this week, Alakai is now seventh in program history with 75 made treys in her career.
The forward shares the honor with Springfield sophomore guard Alex Goslin
averaged 15.5 points, 4.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds.
The Pioneers head to Middlebury College tonight for a 6:00 p.m. start.
