NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team opened up the 2018 Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Bates Friday evening at Ainsworth Gymnasium. The Bobcats won by set scores of 25-10, 25-13, 25-18 and improve to 10-7 on the season. Smith moves to 3-18 on the year.
NOTABLE
- Sophomore Amy Hagen (Owings, Md./Northern) led Smith with 10 kills while also adding seven digs.
- Junior Kimani Freeman (Newark, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) orchestrated the offense and finished with 21 assists.
- Juniors Jody Huang (Cranston, R.I./Cranston) and Helena Wiatrowski (Winchester, Mass./Winchester)Â posted 14 and nine digs, respectively.
- The Pioneers hit .226 in the third set with nine kills.
- Smith moves to 4-10 all-time against Bates
