FRANKLIN, Mass. - Senior guard
Lauren Bondi (Burnaby, BC, Can./Notre Dame Secondary) scored 15 of her career-high 30 points in the first quarter as the Smith College basketball team eased their way to an 80-55 victory over Dean College Thursday evening in a non-conference game at Pieri Gymnasium. The Pioneers move to 2-0 on the year, while the Bulldogs start the season 0-1.
SMITH HIGHLIGHTS
- Bondi shot 7-of-9 from three-point range and added two steals to go along with her 30 points.
- Senior Kennedy Guest-Pritchett (Fairburn, Ga./The Lawrenceville School) recorded her first double-double of the season, finishing with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
- Senior Katy McClellan (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area) also posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 assists.
DEAN HIGHLIGHTS
- Makayla Rudder tallied a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
- Iindia Pina posted 14 points, four boards, four steals, and three assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a high-scoring first quarter where Smith held an eight-point advantage, that lead doubled at halftime after holding the Bulldogs to only four points on 2-for-17 shooting in the second period and they went into intermission ahead, 41-25.
Bondi had three triples in the third quarter as the Pioneers continued to build their lead and when they closed the quarter on a 9-0 run, they were in front, 66-40.
GAME NOTES
- The Pioneers begin the year 2-0 for the third consecutive season.
- Smith held a 50-42 advantage on the boards and forced 22 turnovers.
- Bondi sets the program record for three-pointers in a game with seven.
- Guest-Pritchett's double-double was the 33rd of her career.
- Smith improves to 1-0 all-time against Dean.
