SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Smith College tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Springfield College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action Tuesday afternoon.
With the loss, the Pioneers move to 1-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Smith's top doubles team of Samantha Peikes and June Lee fought to an 8-5 loss to Emlly Etter and Cara Freadman. The No. 3 duo of Kara Van Allen and Tess Ostoyich also fell 8-5. The Pride took a 3-0 advantage into singles action.
At No. 2 singles, Joanna Kim put forth an outstanding effort, but ultimately fell to Rachel Litchfield, 6-4, 6-3.
