NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team fell 3-1 to the Anchormen of Rhode Island College on Thursday evening (25-18, 24-26, 26-24, 25-21). With the win, RIC improves to 4-3 on the season. Smith drops to 1-6 overall.
NOTABLE
- Sophomores Caleigh Johnson (Georgetown, Tex./St. Dominic Savio Catholic) and Claire Cicchetti (Menlo Park, Calif./Woodside)Â each registered 11 kills for the Pioneers.
- Johnson added four blocks and Cicchetti finished with 14 digs.
- Junior Helena Wiatrowski (Winchester, Mass./Winchester)Â finished with 16 assists.
- Sophomore Amy Hagen (Owings, Md./Northern) led the defensive effort with 18 digs.
- The Pioneers hit .205 with 13 kills in the second set.
- RIC improves to 6-2-1 over Smith all-time.
