NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team fell 3-1 to the Anchormen of Rhode Island College on Thursday evening (25-18, 24-26, 26-24, 25-21). With the win, RIC improves to 4-3 on the season. Smith drops to 1-6 overall.

NOTABLE

• Sophomores Caleigh Johnson (Georgetown, Tex./St. Dominic Savio Catholic) and Claire Cicchetti (Menlo Park, Calif./Woodside) each registered 11 kills for the Pioneers.
• Johnson added four blocks and Cicchetti finished with 14 digs.
• Junior Helena Wiatrowski (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) finished with 16 assists.
• Sophomore Amy Hagen (Owings, Md./Northern) led the defensive effort with 18 digs.
• The Pioneers hit .205 with 13 kills in the second set.
• RIC improves to 6-2-1 over Smith all-time.
